Automated Testing EquipmentAutomatic testing equipment, preferably known as ATE, refers to a set of equipment which is used in the automated testing of various electronic products, appliances as well as equipment. This type of testing equipment is fully suited to the testing of the overall final electronic product. Previously, in production, various custom designed automated electronic equipment were utilized. They were composed and controlled by relays as well as trivial switching technologies. As production grew on a large scale, the need was for more sophisticated and efficient automatic testing equipment, which could handle testing of products on a large scale and could be used for mass products. This is the reason why computers were used for controlling the modern day electronic testing equipment and this is what is used in the present day testing and manufacturing facilities as well as units. In most electronic manufacturing and telecommunications testing facilities, a series of automated testing equipments are used such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, digital multi-meters, power meters, DC power analyzer and many more. Also, there exist more complex automated testing equipments that use various complex machineries as well as systems to test complex electronic devices. One such complex automated testing equipment is the Optical Spectrum Analyzer produced by Digital Lightwave. This test equipment allows the monitoring and testing of all channels in C-Band and L-Band; you can also scan in real-time both bands. The Optical Spectrum Analyzer is also easy to use given no calibration is required. Article published January 25th, 2010 |
