Automation Testing FrameworkAutomation testing framework is the set of assumptions and concepts that support the software-testing environment. One of many advantages in setting up a testing framework is the low cost of maintenance. Driver and start-up scripts must be configured upon setup of the testing framework. Test cases can be changed without modifying the device test setup every time a test is performed. The most popular automation testing frameworks include: Modularity Driven TestingAs the name indicates, the framework targets the test case modules. It requires creation of small scripts that represent the modules, functions and sections of the application that is to be tested. Once the test is successful on the individual scripts, then it is moved further up in the hierarchal fashion and larger test cases are created. This is one of the simplest frameworks of all and is very simple to learn to implement in the test project. The framework is mainly established on the several scripts that interact with each other and produce the results. The test environment consists of the general parameters like input values, check on the output values, reading the data sources from the database, logging the test status and the information in a test script. Model-Based Testing:Model-based testing is a partial representation of the entire system in the test system. They test cases executed at this stage are referred to as functional tests. When several functional tests are executed with similar abstractions of the model it is known as abstract test suites. Article published January 25th, 2010 |
